Easter 2009

Nothing gross in this entry - except for lots of chocolately hands!

Easter is my favorite holiday, partly because it is always close to my birthday and I can't think of Chocolate bunnies without thinking of birthday cake (thanks Mom :). But also because I love spring so much. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the daffodils and tulips pop out of the ground and bloom into the most radiant flowers. Each spring I remember seeing the bluebonnets in the Texas Hill Country and all the other wildflowers on the side of the roads, I miss that sight terribly.

But the main reason I love Easter is because it is an opportunity to reflect on my love and gratitude for our Savior. I shared my testimony on Easter Sunday with the Young Women at church and I'd like to write a little bit of what I said.

When I think about the sacrifices of my Savior, there are three very real reasons I am grateful for Him personally. First, through His life and atonement He experienced EVERY pain, sorrow, or grief that we can possible feel in this life. Not just the pain of sin, but of the pain that is caused from other's sins. He knows how I have felt, and each of us feels in this life, He truly "descended below them all." I find great comfort in the knowledge that more than anyone of this earth He understands my personal trials, and have felt the atonement heal my heart. Second, The Son of God, the only perfect man to walk the earth took upon my sins. If only I repent, He will allow me to be perfected in Him. I can live with Him and return home to my Father in Heaven. I have felt the agony of sin and then the joy of redemption and know of His sweet forgiveness. Finally, because He allowed himself to die He broke the bands of death and rose from His tomb on the third day. He offers this gift of Resurrection to all of us. We can live again, we can see our loved ones again. Death is not the end! Our Savior loves us all and has given us hope and life!

"I glory in plainness; I glory in truth; I glory in my Jesus, for he hath redeemed my soul from hell." 2 Nephi 33:6

You're kiddies are such cuties! You make me want to have kids too! I'm so impatient!

We're lovin the sunshine too. It really is very energizing - especially for kids (our primary class was off the wall on Sunday).
