I've been training most of the year for a half-marathon in June. But, I decided that as I easily lose motivation, I needed a short term goal in the meantime.

So, I signed up for the Hagg Lake 10 mile race.
I use the term "race" very, very loosely. I was "racing" to simply finish. I made three challenging, but realistic goals.
#1 Pass at least 1 person :)
#2 Run it all (aka jog very slowly unless I had a bad side cramp)
#3 Finish under 2 hours (that means 12 min miles, GO speed turtle GO)
I proudly proclaim that I completed all my goals!
I ran almost all of it, I did in fact pass TWO people (thus I wasn't the last person done), and I finished at 1 hr 55 minutes!
I thought it would be a beautiful, hilly, fun run. It WAS very beautiful even through the constant misting - think Scotland. We even saw a bald eagle watching us from his perch -"foolish humans". And guess what? The route was in fact quite hilly (ugg). The down pour at mile 9.5 was memorable as well! Hard? YES! Fun? Definitly.
I'm so so so so so so so so tired. A sinewy 65 yr old, veteran runner told me that the Hagg lake 10 miles was about as hard as the Helvetia Half Marathon. So, I guess I'll be able to do that too...
I couldn't have done it without my AWESOME friends: Rachel & Corina.

Although I didn't win a ribbon, I DID win a pie in the raffle contest...mmmmmm blueberry crumb. Made a long hard day worth it!
